Failure vs Mistake - The idiotic inside me, banging the philosophy....

Found this interesting write up on Twitter yesterday and couldn’t stop reading it again and again. Well, the most simplistic & an unsophisticated  way to put one of the most talked topic: “Failure vs Mistakes”.

From

The difference between a failure and a mistake:
failure is a project that doesn't work, an initiative that teaches you something at the same time the outcome doesn't move you directly closer to your goal.
mistake is either a failure repeated, doing something for the second time when you should have known better, or a misguided attempt (because of carelessness, selfishness or hubris) that hindsight reminds you is worth avoiding.
We need a lot more failures, I think. Failures that don't kill us make us bolder, and teach us one more way that won't work, while opening the door to things that might.  School confuses us, so do bosses and families.

Go ahead, Fail... Try to avoid mistakes, though.

I am no philosopher, so end up giving it a serious thought and that’s where the trouble started.

Sipping juice, the left hemisphere of my brain starting arguing - "there's a thin line between Trying again and again, failure & mistakes”. The right one rejected saying, "Shut up... it’s very different like a Maggie tomato catch up!!"

Infact, sometimes, we don’t have a luxury to do mistake. Look at NASA's punch line - "Failure is not an option".

"But what is a failure?", asked a junior excited "Neuron" in my brain.

Well, its true, the toughest part is to define “Failure” in most events, followed by a deep reconciliation with self to unearth reasons for failure and the mother of all - to identify the transition from failure to mistake. In turn it means, the learning from failure comes way after you have traverse the ocean of thoughts and make out what the gorgeous special eligible thing which has turned the Failure into “Mistake”. Isn't an interesting journey of Failure to Mistake?  For me, another take away was – Always make new Mistakes...

Don’t worry.. I guess, it’s just the mesmerizing state of my mind due to over “thinking & multiple thought process occupation” in late hours of night yesterday… I can still see two tubes in my hall lightening up, “Alice in wonderland” playing on TV and my brain, eyes and heart on tuning on different threads!!!

"Failure is not an Option!!!"     Or may be an option Now………

As stated by a software professional...
